One of my favourite ways to spend a summer evening is out in the fresh air with a good book! There have been some really great new releases this year and I wanted to share what I’ve been reading lately:
I’ve just read: After You by Jojo Moyes
This is the sequel to the bestselling Me Before You. It picks up eighteen months later with Louisa Clarke living in London. Her life isn’t exactly going as planned. Things are still tense between her and her family, she’s working a dead-end job and feeling completely lost. Then there’s an accident one night and everything starts to change… This is a little soppy and predictable in parts but still enjoyable. If you liked the first book, then you’ll probably want to read this one too!
I’m now reading: The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena
I can’t put this down! The neighbours are having a dinner party and Anne and Marco are invited — but they’re asked not to bring their baby girl. Marco convinces his wife it’ll be okay to leave her asleep in her crib if they take the baby monitor and check on her every half hour. At the end of the night, the parents return home to an empty crib and no sign of their little girl. Chaos ensues as police, family and the media get involved. Tensions run high, secrets are revealed and twists lie around every corner. This is a fast-paced and completely absorbing read; I’d definitely recommend it!
Next, I’m going to read: On The Other Side by Carrie Hope Fletcher
I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but this just looks so beautiful! The story sounds pretty interesting too. It’s about an elderly woman who passes away in her sleep but can’t move on. She has been keeping three secrets and it’s finally time for her to face up to them. I’m not overly familiar with the author but I know her brother is in McFly as I was a huge fan of this band when I was a teenager! I’m really looking forward to getting in to this book and I’m sure it won’t disappoint!
