Maybelline Lash Sensational v L’Oreal False Lash Sculpt

I’ve always found that when it comes to make-up, I’m much more likely to buy something different rather than repurchase the same product…I just can’t resist trying something new! Since they’re fairly similar in design and promise, I wanted to compare the two latest additions to my collection.

First up is Maybelline Lash Sensational. This has been out for around a year now and I’m glad I finally got around to trying it! Within a week of using this, I was smitten. It’s easy to apply and gives good consistent results every time. A curved wand and a combination of different-sized bristles makes it easier to grab every individual lash. It gives a lovely full look and I find that the brush holds just the right amount of product which means it’s less likely to smudge.

L’Oreal False Lash Sculpt, on the other hand, is newer to the market. It has similar inner bristles designed to define every little lash. The outer bristles are meant to line the waterline like a liner but really, I just find that a bit awkward. I’m not a big fan of this wand at all and I much prefer to apply my liner separately. I also think that the product has a tendency to clump. Sometimes it applies well, other times not so much. When I’ve had a good application, my lashes look longer and more voluminous but it can be hit and miss which isn’t really good enough!

Overall, I definitely prefer Maybelline Lash Sensational. As far as high street mascaras go in general, I think this is one of the better ones. I can see myself repurchasing this in the future — that is, of course, unless something new catches my eye first!
