Blue Ombre Cake

I’m really excited to say that this is my 500th post! Two years and seven months after starting up my blog, here I am. I think that is something definitely worth celebrating so I made a cake. To be more specific, it’s a blue ombre cake with 5 layers — blue in a nod to my blog’s name and then a layer for every 100 posts that I’ve published on here!

This is such an easy cake to make, it just takes a bit of time to put it all together. Every once in a while, it’s good to make a special cake and this one is well worth the extra effort.

I used a basic sponge recipe, adding an extra drop of blue food colouring in to each additional cake. Once all the different layers had been cooked and cooled, it was simply a matter of stacking them up and covering the lot in vanilla icing!

It was really fun and satisfying to cut the first slice and reveal the ombre effect within. Of course, it was pretty fun and satisfying to eat a five-layered slice too!

Thank you so much to everyone who visits my blog and reads my posts — I really appreciate your support. Here’s to the next 500 posts! x
