21 Things I love About Summer

Today is the Summer Solstice and the longest day of the year. As of yet, I haven’t got any major plans for the next couple of months but I’m still looking forward to seeing what happens. We’re having a bit of a heatwave right now so this season is definitely off to a promising start! As you may know if you’re a regular reader, I’m a bit of a fan of making lists so here are 21 things I love about summer:

  • Waking up to a clear blue sky
  • Lying on warm grass
  • The smell of suncream
  • Walking barefoot along the shore at the beach
  • Eating ice-cream in every flavour and form
  • Reading outside
  • Open-toe sandals and brightly painted nails
  • The smell and taste of food cooked on a barbecue
  • Day trips to places like the zoo
  • Floaty dresses and floppy hats
  • Picnics
  • Jumping in to a pool on the hottest day
  • Making desserts with perfectly ripe berries
  • Random road trips
  • Outdoor concerts
  • Tourists taking pictures of things you pass every day
  • Alfresco dining
  • Long leisurely walks to nowhere in particular
  • Making cocktails with fresh fruit and ice-cold mixers
  • Sitting out all evening
  • The way it doesn’t get properly dark until after eleven at night

  1. Your ice cream sandwich picture reminds me of my childhood when I tried to make an ice cream sandwich using two slices of bread! Haha! I was wondering what the story books were raving about as it was so disgusting… Wafers were introduced to me later on in life! 🙂
