There’s no better time than a wet Sunday afternoon to curl up on the couch with a good film and some tasty treats. We’re going to catch the latest X-Men instalment during the week so we decided to watch one of the sequels today (it’d been so long since I’d seen it that I pretty much forgotten everything that went on — I’m terrible for that!). In this house, we love having fresh buttery popcorn with our movies. It’s a perfect snack in its own right but — especially if you have a sweet tooth like me — adding a little honey makes it even better!
Start by making up the popcorn according to instructions. While that pops, melt 4 tablespoons of butter with 2 tablespoons of honey over a medium heat. In a large bowl, stir the honey-butter through the warm popcorn and try to coat as many pieces as possible.
This can be eaten immediately but what I do at this point (and I highly recommend it) is transfer the popcorn to a greased dish and pop it in a hot oven for just 3-5 minutes. This makes the popcorn less sticky to touch, turns it a lovely golden colour and — best of all — gives it this amazing warm and delicious caramel-esque flavour. It’s only a teeny bit of extra effort and it’s well worth it. Definitely give this a go and let me know how much you love it too ;-).
