Chilli and Lime Burgers

I had such a craving for red meat today that I just had to cook up some beefy burgers. I’m not a huge fan of those processed frozen patties from the supermarket so they had to be from scratch. To make things interesting, I decided to introduce two of my favourite flavours in to the basic burger mix. Fiery chilli and zesty lime make for a pretty amazing combination. You should definitely experiment with the measurements, depending on how much heat you can handle! The following recipe makes 4 burgers with a mild kick.

500g mince
Half a medium onion, finely chopped
Half a tsp of chilli powder
Juice of half a lime
2 tbsps olive oil
Salt & pepper

Place all the ingredients in a big bowl and mix well with your hands. On a tray, divide the mixture in to four balls and flatten each one in to patties. Cover the tray with cling film and leave to firm up in the refrigerator for ten to fifteen minutes. Heat a splash of oil in a pan and fry the patties for five minutes on each side. Serve on toasted buns with fresh salad and your favourite condiments. Enjoy!
