Trump Declined to Assert Executive Privilege After Reviewing Mueller Report

The Mueller Report: Watch Live Stream of AG William Barr's Press Conference

Barr said "no material has been redacted based on executive privilege".

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller to investigate Trump campaign ties with Russian Federation as well as possible obstruction of justice by the president.

"It was called no collusion, no obstruction".

Several other such instances include Trump instructing his former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski to deliver a message to Sessions to limit Mueller's probe.

CNN's Wolf Blitzer called it an "almost complete vindication" of President Trump by his attorney general.

Barr also offered a spirited defense of Trump and at times sounded more like the president's attorney rather than an impartial federal official.

Trump earlier blasted the investigation as "The Greatest Political Hoax of all time!" in a series of angry tweets hours before the long-awaited release.

Not only did the Mueller report, according to Barr, come up with the conclusions that the president wanted - there was no illegal participation by Trump or his campaign in the dissemination of the hacked emails.

GREENE: Shan - with just a couple of seconds left - the White House apparently reviewed this, which has angered Democrats. And as the special counsel's report acknowledges, there is substantial evidence to show that the president was frustrated and angered by his honest belief that the investigation was undermining his presidency, propelled by his political opponents and fueled by illegal leaks.

After almost two years of waiting, America is getting some Trump-Russia answers straight from Robert Mueller.

Democrat committee leaders in Congress have launched numerous investigations against Trump, saying the Mueller report didn't go far enough.

The politically charged case over whether or not Trump's campaign team colluded with Moscow - and whether the president sought to derail that probe - has captivated Washington for the better part of two years.

Deputy Commissioner Miller said the 37-year-old suspect was "known to police", who are now looking into his background. A 37-year-old man from New Jersey, later identified by police as Marc Lamparello, was recently taken into custody.

The Attorney General has ruled they do not pass a threshold where the president could face criminal prosecution.

GREENE: Let me turn to the other big question here, which was the question of collusion - again, the attorney general saying that there is no evidence of anyone in the Trump campaign - no Americans, actually - working with Russian Federation. Barr said, however, Trump clearly was frustrated with the "relentless speculation" in the news media and in Washington about the investigation.

The report included an appendix that contained 12 pages of Mr Trump's written responses to the special counsel.

Nadler also criticized the attorney general for trying to "bake in the narrative" of the report to the benefit of the White House. Among the selections played: "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

During testimony to Congress last week, Barr refused to answer whether the White House saw or was briefed on the Mueller report or Barr's four-page summary of the special counsel's principal conclusions.

Throughout the day, pundits, reporters and politicians will be reacting to the report on the fly, tweeting and talking as they read it - and even before they read it.

Barr has said he would make himself available to testify before the Senate and House Judiciary Committees next month after the report is released.

USA attorney general William Barr said there was "no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government hackers".

Overall, Mueller brought charges against 34 people - including six Trump aides and advisers - and revealed a sophisticated, wide-ranging Russian effort to influence the 2016 presidential election.

The report also said there was "substantial evidence" that Trump fired James Comey as FBI director in 2017 due to his "unwillingness to publicly state that the president was not personally under investigation".

The president and his allies have portrayed House Democrats' investigations as partisan overreach.
