UK lawmakers vote down all four alternatives to rejected Brexit deal

But the divorce deal she negotiated with the European Union has been rejected by Parliament three times, leaving Britain facing a no-deal Brexit that could cause turmoil for people and businesses on both sides of the Channel.

Four options were presented to MPs in the House of Commons yesterday but all were rejected late last night.

The next most voted option was a plan to stay in a permanent customs union with the EU. It also rejected plans to remain in the single market, to hold a second referendum, and to cancel Brexit altogether by revoking Article 50.

Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock pleaded with MPs to back the Prime Minister's deal "and deliver Brexit". It won 273 votes but there were 276 votes against, raising hopes among its supporters that the idea could be revived.

He was the only Liberal Democrat to vote for the customs union motion.

George Salmon, an analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, said the airline is facing issues with "two main moving parts", - namely fuel prices and customer sentiment.

Common Market 2.0 - a plan for close engagement with the European Union after Brexit along the lines of Norway's relationship with the bloc - got 261 votes in favour, with 282 ballots against.

She could seek a long delay to Brexit, which would enrage many euro-skeptics and could provoke resignations; she could call for a general election or even a new referendum and let voters decide; or she could try to force the United Kingdom out of the European Union with no deal, although parliament would try to stop this.

As it stands, without a solution, a no-deal Brexit will set in on 12 April, less than two weeks from now.

"This house has continuously rejected leaving without a deal just as it has rejected not leaving at all", Mr Barclay said.

"This is now the second time the House has considered a wide variety of options for a way forward".

Backbench MPs will again take charge of the Commons timetable to consider Brexit plans under Tory MP Sir Oliver Letwin's scheme to break the Parliamentary deadlock. "The Government continues to believe that the best course to take is to do so as soon as possible".

Jeremy Corbyn, the opposition Labour Party leader, called for third round of indicative votes on alternatives.

"I don't have any fear of no-deal", she said.

This inability to agree on anything looked particularly farcical on the first working day since the Prime Minister's deal was defeated on Friday.

Conservative Nick Boles, who failed to get the backing of the house for his "Common Market 2.0" amendment, announced he would resign from the party.

"I have failed chiefly because my party refuses to compromise". There might even have been some sort of cross-party compromise.

"I regret therefore to announce I can no longer sit for this party".

A fourth vote on May's deal?

None of the Monday votes on the proposals are legally binding, meaning it will be up to the British government if they act on the results.

However, bringing back the vote for the fourth time could prove hard, given that the House of Commons speaker has suggested he would block any move for the deal to be voted on again.
