Trump Lays Down Cover Fire Before Release Of Mueller Report

President Donald Trump speaks to reporters before leaving the White House in Washington Wednesday

President Trump on Wednesday said he thinks that Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report should be made public - signaling his confidence that the investigation will find no clear evidence of collusion between his 2016 campaign and the Russian government.

Trump responded to a question on whether the public has the right to see the report by saying, "I don't mind. If you want to keep investigating me, it just shows that it is purely partisan". "Let it come out, let people see it, that's up to the attorney general".

Voters also split over whether they support the president's denial that no collusion occurred between his 2016 campaign and Russian Federation, with 43 percent saying they had "a lot" or "some" trust in Trump's claim, compared to 52 percent who reported "little or no trust". I think the men and women of the Southern District of NY that I led for seven-and-a-half years, and lots of other great folks throughout law enforcement, at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, at the Department of Justice, and in local DA's offices and state attorney general's offices, keep their head down.

The Washington Post reports that several statehouses are looking to pass laws that will require presidential candidates to release their tax returns on if they want to see their name on voting ballots.

There has been increasing speculation that Mueller has almost completed his investigation. If Barr reveals little to Congress, then at that point, House Democrats will probably try to subpoena the original Mueller report (the one he submitted to Barr), as they have announced they will do. We'll see what happens.

Paris has continued to say her father was innocent of such claims, even though she's reportedly never seen the HBO documentary. She also tweeted a lot of question marks, in apparent disbelief over what could be called fake news, with an unamused emoji.

As if the American people are too stupid to notice that two years into a Russian Federation collusion investigation of the president, and Mueller's got zippo on the president. "So explain that, because I don't get it and my voters don't get it", Trump said.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently offered that she doesn't support efforts to impeach President Donald Trump, arguing that the Republican leader's ouster is not worth the political divisiveness that comes with such a move. That's up to the attorney general.

"You know better than anybody there was no collusion", Trump said to one reporter. And now I have somebody writing a report that never got a vote?

"It's sort of interesting that a man just writes a report", Trump said of the Special Counsel, who has been hard at work for 22 months and three days investigating Russia's attack on the USA electoral system.

In that scenario, the AP reporters add, "the conservative media, including Fox News", will "act as an echo chamber".
