Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium and Safari Park tweeted yesterday that witnesses reported seeing the woman cross over the barrier to take a photo.

The woman, who hasn't been identified, was allegedly trying to take a selfie when she crossed a barrier meant to keep visitors back from the animal's enclosure at Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield Park on Saturday. Zoo officials told local news outlets that the woman, who has not been publicly identified, later apologized for her actions.

She was treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital with "stable, non-life-threatening injuries", Gilleland said. They added the jaguar never left her cage and the woman was never in the animal's enclosure.

Kristy Morcum, a spokeswoman for the zoo, told the news outlet that the woman loved the zoo and "feels awful about the bad publicity the zoo is getting regarding the incident".

"I see another girl with her up against the cage of the jaguar and the jaguar has clasped its claws outside of the cage around her hand and into her flesh".

But EU leaders have also mooted a longer delay, even though that would risk interfering with European Parliament elections due in May.

The zoo, in another tweet, wrote that people need to understand "why barriers are put in place", adding it is "sending prayers to the family tonight". You can see the jaguar in question chewing on the water bottle at the top of this article.

Outside perspective: Adam Wilkerson, who visited the zoo with his family, said he heard the woman screaming for help and went to assist her, according to CNN.

This is the second time the 4- to 5-year-old female jaguar has swiped at someone who crossed the barrier, Wildlife World Zoo Director Mickey Ollson told ABC15. After this latest jaguar incident, people immediately began raising concerns about the fate of the jaguar, but the zoo responded quickly to quell those fears. She's a wild animal and there were proper barriers in place to keep our guests safe- not a wild animals fault when barriers are crossed. If it weren't for my mom's quick-thinking with the water bottle that Jaguar would not have let go of the poor girl's arm.

The zoo has temporarily removed the jaguar from exhibition. The woman, who is in her 30s, found herself in trouble when the big cat reached out and grabbed her arm with its paw, leaving lacerations.
