Asian Cup success just the beginning for Qatar

Bora Milutinovic

A member of the team that captured a record fourth Asian Cup in 2011, Yoshida said Japan lacked preparation at this tournament despite having more time to get in shape for the final.

The match took place in the United Arab Emirates on Friday.

"I thought it could be two or three but the team helped me a lot because they defended so well, only conceding one goal, so I would have been embarrassed not to score goals". He goes on to say that he feels a sense of responsibility for this sudden defeat against Qatar who is going to host the 2022 World Cup.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for winning the Asian Cup after beating four-time champion Japan on Friday. "I want my staff and players to be proud of the achievements in this tournament".

Ali was named Player of the Tournament but the award could easily have gone to his skilful forward partner Akram Afif, who sealed the title for Qatar when he coolly despatched a spot kick for the final goal of the 17th Asian Cup.

Since winning World Cup hosting rights in December 2010, Qatar has tried to find players to build a competitive team.

According to documents that have been published on websites in the UAE, the mothers of the two soccer players were not born in Qatar, as has been claimed by the Qatari federation, the Guardian reported.

Evidence in Concord Management meddling case has been altered and disseminated
Trump told the Daily Caller he has not spoken to Whitaker about whether the investigation is nearing its conclusion. Concord is among 13 Russian individuals and entities charged last February in connection with Mueller's probe.

The the tournament's top scorer, Qatar's Almoez Ali scored the first goal, setting a new Asian Cup record with nine goals.

Yoshida said a number of Iranian players he met in the hotel elevator after the game apologized for the incident involving Shibasaki.

Qatar running rampant to secure a maiden Asian Cup title in Abu Dhabi might have been the worst-case scenario for the hosts but it also offered hope for Gulf football that the 2022 World Cup might not now be a humiliating experience for the region.

Regarding the final, Yoshida, 30, said: "I expect both teams to give 100 percent effort with fair play and show all over the world how we play".

But then it will be back to work.

They may have fallen at the final hurdle, but that didn't stop Japan from departing the 2019 Asian Cup with their usual grace and decorum. But I am happy that we could play seven matches and develop our game more. "We get along very well together too".

As mentioned in the earlier part of this article, Qatar's national football team members-who are mostly under the age of 25-technically grew up within Sanchez' care and tutelage, making them the champions that they are today. Qatar are in the same group as Lionel Messi's Argentina for the June-July tournament in Brazil.
