Apple has now broken all of Google's internal iOS apps

Apple breaks Google’s internal iOS apps for the same reason it broke Facebook’s apps

Facebook and Google have both been given a hefty warning shot by Apple after it was revealed that the two companies had been using internal security certificates to bypass restrictions on iOS applications in order to release data-gathering apps that would otherwise be banned.

Google and Facebook were caught earlier this week using Apple's Enterprise Developer Program in a way that Apple said was a "clear breach of their agreement with Apple". "We are in the process of getting our internal apps up and running", a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement. It's unclear how this will impact that deal when renewal discussions begin.

Apple did not reply immediately to a request for comment. That move not only affects the app but more critically prevents Facebook employees from using internal versions of Facebook's core iOS app as well as such apps as Messenger and Instagram. Their functionality has since been restored, alongside the company's enterprise certs.

"We are working together with Google to help them reinstate their enterprise certificates very quickly", Apple said in a statement Thursday.

While Google disabled the Screenwise Meter's iOS app, the Android version is still available on the Google Play Store, indicating that the market research program is still active. Employee-only apps including the Gbus iOS transportation app and the company's internal cafe app have also conked out.

The news was reported by The Verge, citing "a person familiar with the situation", and follows reports that Google used its "Screenwise Meter" iOS app as part of a market research program to monitor iPhone device usage. This app is completely voluntary and always has been. That app could extensively track their phone and web use.

Trump administration 'closely following' efforts by European Union to circumvent Iran sanctions
Trump's decision to pull America out of the Iran nuclear deal in May pushed the three European nations to create the method. On January 25, France said it was ready to impose new sanctions on Tehran if talks on its missile program make no progress.

Flouting Apple's privacy rules have reportedly resulted in severe consequences for the social media giant. That power is a long-standing concern for Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's founder and chief executive, making his company beholden to the rules of others.

They're likely to cause a certain amount of chaos at Google, too.

Apple adheres clearly to its rules and applies them equally to Facebook, Google and, probably, to many other companies that violate Apple's rules in the future. Would that have happened-ever-for a smaller company?

Google and Apple have a lucrative business relationship worth billions of dollars a year, since Googles pays a commission for the ads that it sells as the built-in search engine on iPhones.

And yet this is the first time Cook has taken significant action against Facebook or Google.
