IPhone 8 among older Apple handsets banned from sale in Germany

iOS 12.1.12 update in China attempts to address Qualcomm patents

This is somewhat odd as there is no legal requirement to do so, which means that Apple might be hoping to limit bigger damages bill later by imposing its ban. Qualcomm, a silicon giant, has been granted an injunction against Cupertino-based technology giant.

Apple said that pending its appeal, the sale of iPhone 7 and 8 models will be halted at the 15 Apple stores in Germany. Qualcomm will have to pay a $765 million bond in order for the ruling to go into effect.

Apple shares closed down 3.5 per cent at €139.99 in European trading on Thursday.

Apple is naturally planning to appeal the ruling and the looming ban. Just like China, Apple has again said that it'll appeal against the injunction.

It won in Germany through what third-party patent sites are basically calling "gamesmanship". As a result, Apple will stop selling its iPhone 7 and 8 handsets in that country. In 2016, Apple started using a mix of Qualcomm and Intel radio modems in its smartphones, rather than exclusively Qualcomm parts, much to the latter's rage.

Pelicans’ Anthony Davis vomited six times in huge game vs
The LA Lakers added LeBron James over the 2018 off-season and his arrival has led to a turn around in the team's fortunes. Some are anxious that James and Paul will push for the Pelicans to trade Davis to the Lakers , the report said.

The two USA companies are locked in a worldwide dispute over licensing fees Qualcomm charges for use of technology the chipmaker says underpins all modern phone systems. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has also sued Qualcomm over its business practices in a case set to go to trial in California next month.

While a sales ban in China could hurt Apple's bottom line, it is unlikely the two patent skirmishes will sway the outcome of the broader battle, where Qualcomm has suffered a series of setbacks fighting U.S. antitrust regulators. Because if Internet sleuths are correct, the chip maker might find itself in even deeper trouble than before.

In a statement, Qorvo's Chief Intellectual Property Counsel Mike Baker said, "We believe our envelope tracking chip does not infringe the patent in suit, and the court would have come to a different conclusion if it had considered all the evidence".

Rosenblatt analyst Jun Zhang has said in the 4 million iPhone production cut figure, Apple reduced the iPhone XS numbers by 1 million and trimmed iPhone XS Max numbers by 500,000.
