Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus forward not in Portugal squad to face Scotland & Poland

Las Vegas police are reopening their investigation into the assault allegations.

Portugal will face Poland in the UEFA Nations League on October 11 and then have a friendly against Scotland in Glasgow on October 14.

The Juventus and Portugal forward has denied any wrongdoing after being accused by Kathryn Mayorga of raping her in Las Vegas in 2009.

Lawyers for Mayorga have this week sued Ronaldo in a district court in Clark County, Nevada, and on Wednesday gave a press conference in which they said the Portugal forward had 20 days from the filing of the lawsuit to respond.

"I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me", he tweeted in Portuguese and English.

He said: "We must engage in this battle and turn our fire on the enemy, Jeremy Corbyn and his risky hard-left ideas". But he was quick to add he would stick by May, if not her plan, at least for now.

"I believe in his word, not only because I defend the presumption of innocence as a basic principle of law, but because I've known Ronaldo for many years and have been witness to his good character". "Fake, fake news", Ronaldo said in an Instagram live video on Sunday, dismissing the claims.

"My clear conscious will thereby allow me to await with tranquility the results of any and all investigations", Ronaldo tweeted.

"She wants justice, of course", he said. Kathryn's lawyer told the media that she came out taking #MeToo movement as inspiration. Mayorga, however, contends in her lawsuit that both a nurse at the hospital and a Las Vegas police detective discouraged her from filing charges against Ronaldo because of his fame.

After she refused his demand to perform oral sex and said she wanted to leave, Ronaldo pulled her into a bedroom and anally raped her while she screamed "no, no, no", according to the suit.

It said the assault left her with "severe emotional and bodily injuries including but not limited to anal contusions, post-traumatic stress disorder and major depression".
