Federer in full flow with Lacko demolition

The Large Hadron Collider

Defending champion Roger Federer was again on great form as he comfortably beat Lukas Lacko 6-4, 6-4, 6-1.

Federer will next face Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff, who edged past Croatia's Ivo Karlovic in five sets.

The 36-year-old is now on his joint second longest streak of sets won at Wimbledon - his best was 34 between the third round in 2005 to the 2006 final.

Eight-time champion Federer barely broke sweat in a 6-4, 6-4, 6-1 success over world number 73 Lukas Lacko of Slovakia in the third Grand Slam of the year.

"I´m getting there. I expect to get there, not only for Wimbledon but for the tournaments in the future".

The 27-year-old second seed was also plagued by a barrage of flying ants during Wednesday's match on Court One, and needed insect repellent to get rid of them.

But where Pouille failed, his compatriot Gael Monfils succeeded in a 3-6 6-3 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-3) triumph over Italian Paolo Lorenzi. I had the response to her game, but she's a very tricky opponent, very talented, and in really good confidence.

Federer also commented on how he felt during his first round match win against the Serb Dusan Lajovic, playing as first on Centre Court: 'It was good.

LeBron back in Los Angeles as start of free agency nears
James alone can change a conference - no non-LeBron team has made the Finals in the Eastern Conference since 2010. On Friday, James informed the Cavs that he was not exercising his $35.6 million option and becoming a free agent.

Winning 6-4, 6-4, 6-1 in 90 minutes, Federer showcased the best of his talents as he kept Lacko at arm's length with his impressive range of shots.

In the morning, Victoria Azarenka, who has a one-year-old son, lost to the seventh seed, Karolina Pliskova.

Japan's Naomi Osaka, seeded 18th, hit 24 winners and converted three out of four break points to power past local hope Katie Boulter 6-3 6-4 and reach the third round.

"I think (what's) important when you want to serve well is your point-for-point mentality, saying, maybe, 'The first point is as important as a break point, ' so the concentration is the same", Federer explained.

"Sometimes your serve matches up better against certain players", he said. Happy for the victory and happy with way I played. "It will be much more of a strategic match, I believe, the way Mannarino plays", Federer said.

Serena Williams making her comeback in the tournament after giving it a miss a year ago to give birth to daughter Alexis Olympia routed Bulgarian qualifier Viktoriya Tomova 6-1, 6-4.

Milos Raonic, seeded 13th, was made to work hard against Australia's John Millman before prevailing 7-6 (4) 7-6 (4) 7-6 (4) in two hours 38 minutes on Court Two.

Fifth seed Juan Martin del Potro thumped Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 6-4 6-1 6-2 in 95 minutes to move into the third round.
