Clinton campaign on Comey email use: 'Ironic and deeply frustrating'

H7 inspector general comey fbi clinton email

Much of the public attention has been focused on Peter Strzok, a seasoned FBI counterintelligence investigator who worked the Clinton investigation and was later on Mueller's team until anti-Trump text messages with an FBI lawyer, Lisa Page, were discovered and brought to the special counsel's attention.

And while the president has criticised Mr Comey's deputy, Andrew McCabe, because of Democratic political contributions to his wife, the Justice Department report said he was not required to recuse himself and had correctly flagged the issue inside the bureau.

"W$3 hat they did was incredible and a real insult to millions of people that voted in that election on both sides", Trump said.

The report found former FBI Director James Comey was "insubordinate" in handling the investigation into Clinton, a Democrat, even though he wasn't motivated by political bias.

It was one of the most controversial investigations in modern FBI history and entangled the bureau, which usually stands apart from politics, in the 2016 presidential election.

Strzok made his explosive comment to Page in August 2016. The president later said that he had the "Russia thing" in mind when he let go of Comey. Right?!" and Strzok replied "No.

"No. No he won't. We'll stop it", Strzok responded.

White House: Trump salute to NK general 'a common courtesy'
Donald Trump made the surprise announcement following his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Trump said he told Kim he would like to get the American remains being held in North Korea.

As a leading counterintelligence expert, Strzok was involved in opening the investigation into ties between Trump campaign associates and Russian Federation. Trump wrote on Twitter.

Though Trump has alleged that a politically tainted FBI tried to undermine his campaign, the report found nothing to suggest that political preferences influenced how the investigation was conducted.

"But my emails", Clinton tweeted on Thursday in response to a tweet from a Politico reporter highlighting Comey's own email missteps.

During an appearance on Fox News on Thursday night, Giuliani said that "Rod Rosenstein and Jeff Sessions have a chance to redeem themselves, and that chance comes about tomorrow". He said that would be better than Mueller's investigation because it's internal and less likely to suffer from mission creep. "Strzok should be in jail by the end of next week".

Comey defended his actions in an op-ed published in the New York Times after the report was released.

White House adviser Stephen Miller met with conservatives in the Republican Study Committee on Wednesday and offered private assurances that the president supported the bills.

The FBI obtained a warrant nine days before the presidential election to review those emails, found on the laptop of former Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., - the husband of top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin - and ultimately determined there was nothing that changed its original conclusion. He also chronicled Maryland government for more than a decade.
